Branding and Illustration for The Goal Foundation’s Ogden Marathon

Challenge/Needs

Ogden’s Goal Foundation reached out to me in the summer of 2011 with a desire to improve the brand of their Ogden Marathon that was gaining popularity and becoming one of the notable marathon courses in the Western US region. It wasn’t that their previous brand had become tired, it was more that it’s design looked more like an afterthought. They didn’t have a logo they could get behind for the long term and they didn’t have any branding elements to solidify their mission, their voice, or be applied in practical ways for their event. They’d gotten to know me through some posters I’d submitted for their poster contest and wanted to apply the same creative thought I’d shown in their posters to bring an Ogden Marathon brand to life. Our focus was capturing the personality of Ogden, representing the athlete and boiling this down to a memorable mark.
